Thousands of civilians managed to flee the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, where Russian forces promised a new truce on Wednesday, about two weeks after their invasion of this country, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and millions of refugees. More than five thousand people have so far been from the city of Sumy, 350 kilometers northeast of Kyiv

The Russian military confirmed that a new ceasefire is supposed to take effect on Wednesday to allow the evacuation of other civilians. However, this announcement did not prevent it, according to the Ukrainian Emergency Management Department, from bombing the small town of Malin on Tuesday evening in the Zhitomir region, west of Kyiv, killing five people, including two infants, and destroying seven homes.
